> Connect a Microsoft account so Italic can handle your Outlook mail and calendar.

One Microsoft sign-in covers Outlook and Outlook Calendar, for work, school
and Outlook.com accounts. Italic works with Outlook the same way it works with
Gmail and Google Calendar, so you don't need a Google account.

## Connect a Microsoft account [#connect-a-microsoft-account]

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Outlook or Outlook Calendar">
    In **Connectors** on the web or the Mac, choose **Outlook** or **Outlook
    Calendar**. On the iPhone, open **Profile → Connectors**, then
    **Outlook** or **Outlook Calendar**.
  </Step>
  <Step title="Sign in with Microsoft">
    Choose **Connect Microsoft account**, sign in and accept every permission
    on Microsoft's screen.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The account appears under **Microsoft accounts** on both pages. Choose
**Connect another Microsoft account** to add more.

Italic works with mail in Microsoft 365 and Outlook.com. It can't reach mail
kept elsewhere, such as a work address whose mail is in Gmail, or an
organization's own Exchange server.

<Callout type="info">
Some organizations only let an admin approve apps. If Italic says "Your
organization needs an admin to approve Italic", ask your IT admin to approve
Italic, then connect again.
</Callout>

## Outlook mail [#outlook-mail]

Italic can search and read your email, send email from the account you
choose, and look up someone's address by name in your contacts and the people
you email. It can move an email to Deleted Items, always as a draft you
approve. It can't delete email for good, or change or delete your contacts.

Try "What's in my Outlook inbox?" or "Read the newest one." If Outlook is
your only email account, Italic sends from it without asking which.

## Outlook Calendar [#outlook-calendar]

Italic can see your events and add events to the calendar you choose. It
can't change or delete events. "What's on my calendar tomorrow?" lists your
Outlook events together with any Google Calendar events.

## Permissions and workflows [#permissions-and-workflows]

Outlook and Gmail share one email permission, and Outlook Calendar and Google
Calendar share one calendar permission. Changing it on one page changes it on
both, and each account can still have its own setting. See
[Connectors](/connectors).

Workflows' **Send email** and **Create calendar event** actions can use your
Outlook accounts too.

## Remove an account [#remove-an-account]

Choose **Remove** beside the account. Italic stops using it for Outlook and
Outlook Calendar and deletes its access. Microsoft keeps listing Italic among
your account's apps until you remove it there.
