# Drafts

> What a draft shows, how to edit or undo it, and how connector permissions decide what waits for you.

## What a draft looks like [#what-a-draft-looks-like]

A draft is a card that looks like what it will make:

- An **email** shows the account it goes from, who it's to (Cc and Bcc too),
the subject and the start of the body.
- An **event** shows its time and place.
- A **reminder** shows its title and when it's due.
- A **custom connector's** call shows the tool and its arguments.

On a long draft, choose **Show all** to read the rest before you approve it,
down to every argument of a connector call, in full.

The main button names what it does: **Send**, **Add to calendar**,
**Add reminder**, **Save to Notion**, **Add to page** or **Move to Trash**
(**Move to Deleted Items** for Outlook). **Create** saves a
[workflow drafted in Chat](/chat#draft-a-workflow). iPhone writes some of them
with capitals, such as **Add to Calendar** and **Add Reminder**. Beside the
main button is **Discard** (or **Keep**, for an email Italic would move to the
Trash).

Choose **Edit** to change an email's, an event's or a reminder's fields before
you approve: in place in the web app, or in a sheet on iPhone. Moving an email
to the Trash has no Edit.

You can also change a waiting draft by asking in Chat, for example "Send it to
Jeff instead". The card updates everywhere, and you still choose Send.

### Undo [#undo]

After you choose Send, Italic waits five seconds and shows
"Sending “Lunch” to sam@example.com" with **Undo**. Nothing is sent until
then. In the web app, close the page in that time and nothing is sent; the
draft keeps waiting. On iPhone, choosing Send in the Edit sheet waits the same
way, with your edits; approving from a notification goes at once.

### After you decide [#after-you-decide]

A decided draft becomes one line, such as "Sent “Lunch” to sam@example.com"
or "Discarded “Lunch”". **View** shows the draft again, and for a custom
connector's call, what the tool answered, with **Show all** on a long answer.
Where Italic can link to what it
made, the line has a link such as **Open in Gmail**,
**Open in Google Calendar**, **Open in Outlook**, **Open in Notion** or
**Open in Slack**.

Reminders are added by your iPhone. Approve one in the web app or on the Mac,
and Italic wakes your iPhone to add it, without Italic being opened; until it's
added it reads "Waiting for iPhone". A locked iPhone adds it once you unlock it,
and App 321 or earlier adds it the next time Italic opens.

## How this relates to connector permissions [#how-this-relates-to-connector-permissions]

Each app in [Connectors](/connectors) has a rule for Chat:

- **Ask every time** (the default): everything Italic sends or creates there
  is a draft.
- **Allow without asking**: Italic acts at once, and the card shows what
happened. The app marks this choice with an **Elevated risk** note, and the
web app asks you to confirm it first, with a question such as "Send email
  without asking?"
- **Off**: Italic doesn't use the app at all.

With several accounts in one app, each account can have its own rule.

Workflows don't use Ask or Allow. Each workflow action has its own
[Ask first or Run automatically](/workflows/runs#ask-first-or-run-automatically) setting. Off applies to both:
an app that's Off isn't used in Chat, and a workflow action that needs it
fails and says why.

Whatever the rule, an email with no recipient always waits for you, and
moving an email to the Trash is always a draft.
