Dex

What's new in how the Italic app works with Dex, the recording card, newest first.

Changes to how Italic works with Dex, newest first. Dex's own firmware comes from its maker, and updating it from the Italic app isn't available yet, so this page lists changes in the Italic app. Dex's page shows the firmware version it reports under Device information.

October 26, 2026

  • Recordings on device moved. On Dex's page, Recordings on device now sits under Recording Status. The Review recordings link that showed under a warning is hidden while that row is on the page, since it opens the same list.

October 25, 2026

  • One Recording section. Dex's recording choices share a Recording section with the other devices' choices.

October 20, 2026

  • A Dex Memo's audio plays on its page. The Memo's page has an Audio card with its length, a player, Export audio and a confirmed Delete audio. The Audio list on Home, and on Dex's page, shows only what isn't a saved Memo: recordings still transcribing, failed, found without speech, or kept without their Memo.

October 19, 2026

  • Recordings name your Dex. A recording shows the name you gave Dex in Devices, not just "Dex", on iPhone, Mac and the web. A rename renames its recordings too. A Dex you've removed shows the product name.

October 18, 2026

  • Dex connects on a new iPhone without the old one. The iPhone that has your Dex saves its connection to your account, so a new iPhone connects from Connect on this iPhone with no other phone. The old Authorize another iPhone step is gone. If the account has no saved key, reset Dex's pairing and the new iPhone sets a new one. Italic still checks that it's your Dex before it imports a recording.

September 27, 2026

  • Dex turns in 3D during setup, like the Ring does.
  • Transfers and imports no longer slow the app. Dex's transfers and imports run in the background, so Italic stays responsive while a recording copies.
