FoloToy
What's new in the FoloToy Passport's firmware for Italic, newest first.
Firmware for the FoloToy AI Passport, newest first. The Passport is an External device: other makers' hardware that runs firmware Italic provides. This firmware is an early prototype, and it isn't a finished release. Its installer isn't released yet, so these builds run only on our test Passport.
Passport 1.8.0
November 5, 2026. On our test Passport; version read back. The matching iPhone update isn't installed yet.
- Read the conversation. Chat keeps recent messages together. Press A to scroll up and C to scroll down; hold either to change tabs. B still asks a question. New replies leave your place alone while you read earlier messages.
- Your questions appear beside Italic's answers with the matching iPhone update, not installed yet. Older app builds still send scrollable answers. The Passport's recent messages clear when it disconnects or restarts; the conversation stays on your iPhone.
Passport 1.7.0
November 5, 2026. On our test Passport. Version and charging state read back; waking the screen and saving a Clip confirmed on the device.
- Less power while waiting. The screen dims after 20 seconds without a key press and turns off after a minute. Any key wakes it and keeps its usual action. During a recording the screen stays visible at the dim brightness. The processor and Bluetooth radio also use less power between work. We haven't measured the change in battery life yet.
- See it charging. A charging bolt appears when the Passport is connected to a computer over USB. Settings says Charging, or Charged at 100%. The iPhone charging display needs an updated Italic app, not installed yet. Power-only chargers can't be detected by this hardware.
Passport 1.6.4
November 2, 2026. On our test Passport.
- See that it saved. For four seconds after a recording ends, the line under the clock says CLIP SAVED or MEMO SAVED once Italic on your iPhone has it, TOO SHORT when it's shorter than your Auto-delete shorter than setting, or NOT SAVED if your iPhone couldn't keep it. It needs App 323 or later.
Passport 1.6.3
November 2, 2026. On our test Passport.
- Fewer stopped recordings. A recording no longer stops with "Not received" when Bluetooth falls behind for a moment, which happened most with a locked iPhone that also had a Ring connected. It now rides out gaps of up to a second.
- The clock no longer breaks onto two lines at wide times such as 10:44, and a Memo past 99 minutes shows hours and minutes.
Passport 1.6.2
November 1, 2026. On our test Passport.
- A steadier connection. The Passport now asks your iPhone for a more patient connection a few seconds after it connects, rather than as it connects, when iOS can ignore the request. Repeated drops on our test iPhone stopped once iOS granted it.
Passport 1.6.1
November 1, 2026. Built.
- Before your iPhone has set the time, the Mic page says Connect in Italic or Ready instead of showing dashes where the clock goes.
Passport 1.6.0
November 1, 2026. Built.
- Tap B for a Memo. Tap B to start a Memo of any length, and tap again to stop. Hold B for a Clip as before. Recording starts the moment you press, so a Clip keeps its first words.
- Keeps the connection. Reopening Italic no longer disconnects the Passport, and a connection that drops while you aren't recording no longer shows an error.
Passport 1.5.4
November 1, 2026. Built.
- The black pill above the tabs appears only when pressing B will do something. Advice such as "Connect in Italic to start recording" is plain text under the clock.
Passport 1.5.3
November 1, 2026. Built.
- A large clock. The Mic page shows a large clock and the date, like Glyph's Home, and the clock becomes a timer while you record. The tabs sit at the very bottom, and the screens say far less.
Passport 1.5.2
November 1, 2026. Built.
- The three keys on the right edge are labeled A, B and C on the screen, and the text uses those names.
- A message such as a lost connection no longer freezes the keys: any key dismisses it, and it clears itself after ten seconds.
Passport 1.5.1
November 1, 2026. Built.
- Each key's job is drawn beside it, and the top and bottom bars match Glyph's.
Passport 1.5.0
October 30, 2026. On our test Passport.
- Ready in the background. The Passport stays ready to record while Italic is in the background, so a press should start a recording without opening the app. We hadn't tried that on an iPhone with this build.
Passport 1.4.0
October 30, 2026. Built.
- Ask Italic. Hold the key on the Chat page to ask a question, and read Italic's answer on the Passport's screen.
Passport 1.3.0
October 30, 2026. Built.
- Icons for the Mic, Chat and Settings pages, a Bluetooth icon, and a clock that Italic sets when it connects.
Passport 1.2.1
October 30, 2026. On our test Passport.
- The screen uses Italic's typefaces.
Passport 1.2.0
October 29, 2026. On our test Passport.
- No pairing code. Your iPhone connects to the Passport without a six-digit code, as with Glyph. Recording still starts only when you press the Passport's key.
Passport 1.1.0
October 29, 2026. Built.
- The Passport reports its battery level and firmware version to Italic, and shows them on its screen.
Passport 1.0.2, live microphone for Italic
October 28, 2026. Built, and flashed once to a Passport. We haven't yet paired it with an iPhone.
- Hold to record. Hold the Passport's center button to stream its microphone to Italic on your iPhone, and release it to finish. Nothing is saved on the Passport, and it uses no Wi-Fi.
- Bluetooth only. The audio goes straight to your iPhone over Bluetooth LE. The Passport shows a six-digit code when your iPhone pairs with it.
- Foreground, five minutes. Italic must stay open on the capture screen. A capture lasts up to five minutes. If a packet goes missing or the connection drops, the capture stops instead of filling the gap, and you can save the part that arrived.
- Words come after you stop. Italic transcribes the recording after the capture, the way it does for any Clip or Memo.
- It replaces the Passport Control dashboard on the Passport. That one is a separate build.
Italic's support for the Passport wasn't in a released app then. App 321 on TestFlight has it.
Passport Control 1.0.1
October 27, 2026. Separate from Italic.
- A control panel for coding agents. The Passport shows up to five agents, their status and their progress, and you approve or deny an agent's request by holding the OK button. Deny is the default.
- It needs no Italic account and records no audio.
